The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism understands the importance of having media experience the destination first hand to capture and convey the personality of the many islands to readers through compelling stories. Our ongoing Visiting Journalist Program enables media to visit islands of interest with an itinerary that is individually tailored to meet specific needs and story objectives.

To be considered for the program, journalists must have an assignment with a media outlet whose readership and/or viewership aligns with our target audience in key markets. Freelance journalists must have an assignment letter or form of correspondence from the editor in the outlet that the story will appear.

Policies:

  • Media are responsible for incidentals such as phone calls, mini-bar, non-scheduled meals, laundry as well as transportation to and from their local airport
  • Sponsorship does not extend to guests of the media and The Bahamas is only able to make arrangements for journalists on assignment
  • Outlets who request to send a photographer in addition to a journalist must be producing a feature story that reaches The Bahamas target audience
  • All media travelling to The Bahamas on a sponsored trip must sign a general information form and intent to participate form

If your editorial policy prevents you from accepting sponsored trips, we are happy to work to provide media rates and serve as a resource as you develop your Bahamas itinerary.
